Martinique Beach is the longest, sandy beach in Nova Scotia. On any given day you can find groups of surfers, beach-goers, and Piping Plovers. Once threatened, these tiny shore birds have started to make a comeback. They were even featured on special edition Nova Scotia license plates to support conservation efforts. Everyone roots for the underdog, and that's what Plovers mean to me. Who doesn't like a good comeback story?
